Life Through Art

“Woodland Sanctuary” 40″ x 60″ oil and metal leaf on canvas – $7,000

I recently watched a documentary on a famous musician and heard him say that from the time he was a young child he had viewed life through “a lens of music”. I realized that I was doing the same thing through a “lens of art” and I don’t even remember when I started doing that. It was probably after my responsibilities to other family members were less and I could concentrate more on painting.

I would sit on our deck and look at the trees and plants in our yard and immediately visualize several of them in a rectangular format of a painting. These paintings are just a few examples of these compositions.

“Northwest Autumn” 40″ x 60″ oil and metal leaf on canvas – $7,000

I enjoy the color and beauty of the many hydrangea plants in our yard and in planters on our deck and I recently visualized a painting of two different varieties from opposite areas of our yard as I was relaxing. I’m still working on it since it is very complex and I’m enjoying the summer colors.
