Celebrating Moments of Joy

“A Jubilant Celebration” 36″ x 48″ oil and metal leaf – $6,500

In the past, during difficult times and sadness, I have cheered myself by creating colorful paintings. Since the pandemic and increasingly devastating global and national news of horrors created by both nature and humans, that is no longer enough to boost my spirits.

This past year, I decided to concentrate on as many positive aspects of our lives as possible – sunshine on our beautiful garden, occasional good news of better health of family members and friends, an upswing in the economy, group shows and invitational exhibitions.

“A Joyful Commemoration” 36″ x 48″ oil and metal leaf – $6,000

With the 250th birthday of America coming up next yer, I started the celebration early by creating fireworks paintings. I have painted two of them so far and they have been the most challenging paintings of my long career, but also a lot of fun. Creating bursts of color and light is totally different from my usual subjects of plants and trees, but it has shaken up my creativity. I’m already working on the third fireworks painting by cutting the metal leaf patterns and planning them for a 36″ x 72″ canvas.
