“Shimmering Peony Garden” – 40″ x 60″ oil and metal leaf on canvas – $7,000
Mother’s Day was always a big celebration for our family because my mother’s birthday quite often fell on that holiday. Sadly, she died on Mother’s Day, just one day before her 91st birthday. Since then, the day has always had a tinge of sadness for our family, but today I’m going to celebrate her achievements in a very successful life.

“Penny’s Maple Tree #1 – 36″ x 60” oil and metal leaf on canvas – $5,000
My Mother was a beautiful redhead who was nicknamed Penny and she charmed everyone who met her. Born into a large family during the Great Depression, she learned to be both thrifty and resourceful at an early age. She taught herself to sew when she was 12 and continued to sew garments for her mother, sisters and me. Besides my prom dresses, she also sewed my wedding dress and several garments I wore for my painting shows. She happily added her granddaughters’ garments as well.

“Penny’s Maple Tree #2″ – 36″ x 48” oil and metal leaf on canvas – $4,000
She was also a successful business woman, who with her husband, managed a thirty-unit apartment complex, doing all of the redecorating of each unit as well as all of the bookwork. I never was able to paint her to my satisfaction, but her garden gave me inspiration for several paintings and continues to do so.

“Penny’s Geraniums”- 40″ x 60″ watercolor – $3,000
