“Chrysanthemum Garden 36″ x 48” oil and metal leaf on canvas – SOLD
My art has always been my way of getting through difficult times in my life, but the last few months have been so stressful that focusing on my paintings didn’t help. We learned of many sad and bad events in the lives of several relatives and friends and at the same time had a seemingly endless parade of workmen replacing aging appliances and pipes in our house.

“Shimmering Aspen Grove” 36″ x 48″ oil and metal leaf on canvas – SOLD
Staying focused on art was the last thing on my mind, but then some good things started to happen for us and I got my positive perspective back. Good health was restored to someone very dear to me and then I received some good news of recent sales of my work at the Portland Art Museum’s Rental/Sales Gallery. It is amazing how much those events lifted my spirits and allowed me to focus on creativity again.

“Anticipation of Spring” 36″ x 48″ oil and metal leaf on canvas – SOLD
My method of getting back to painting is to start with a very familiar subject and change the format, colors. composition and technique. Since using composition metal leaf to enhance the background, I also use several different types of application to give even more brilliance to the painting. My experiments have invigorated me in the studio and only time will tell if I have been successful with the paintings. They will be my submissions for fall group shows and will appear here in a few months.
My website has recently been updated with new work. Please click on the link to view more paintings as well as links to my galleries and Pomegranate products.
