“Quinault Forest” 40″ x 40″ oil on canvas
This is my painting which will be in the fall show at the gallery. It is a view of the waterfalls in the Quinault rain forest in Washington and was selected along with 249 other artworks from the 450 submissions to the show.
The Rental/Sales Gallery only has submissions for two shows a year, so it is always an exciting time for the artist members. This show will exhibit new works by 120 artists. I’ve been a member of the gallery since 1965 and at this point there is only one other artist who has been there longer, so I have attended a lot of openings over the years. Since its start in 1959, the gallery has moved three times and has had five different directors.
This year the show is a little later and since the opening is so close to Halloween, the artists and visitors are encouraged to wear costumes. The opening is Oct. 24 at 5-8 p.m. and the address is 1237 S.W. 10th Ave., Portland, OR.
