As I mentioned in a previous blog, my three-month evolving show at the Elsinore Gallery in Salem, Oregon keeps me busy adding new work each month.  Spring flowers have been the theme of my current show and the two new paintings I added for May also portray Oregon’s changeable spring weather.

The gallery is also exhibiting a group of sixteen artists showing a variety of artworks on the theme  of “May Flowers”.  The show is displayed in Gallery 444, a space which the gallery reserves for special exhibits each month.

I’m already well into my additions for the June show and I will be introducing a subject that I’ve never painted before – pink dogwoods.  I’ve enjoyed seeing the trees in the neighborhood over the years, but hadn’t thought of painting one until recently, when a lady asked me to paint one for her.  My daughters and I have spent the last two weeks photographing every dogwood tree we could find – both pink and white and I now have several compositions floating in my head.  Much more on that subject in the coming months.
