An Eventful Week

It is amazing that I can go months without anything happening except painting several hours each day and then in one week I have had three different major events happen.

The first one was finishing the painting above, having it photographed and submitting it and seven others in an important “Call to Artists” competition.  I won’t hear the results  for a few weeks, but I’m just concentrating on some new paintings for shows next year.

Saturday I attended the 60th anniversary of the Portland Art Museum Rental/Sales Gallery and as the second oldest member, was asked to talk to people about my painting technique to those attending the opening.  Several other artists were doing the same and some others were demonstrating.  Jennifer Zika, the director, her assistant Mark and the many volunteers who helped, did a wonderful job of organizing the all-day event and providing refreshments.

The next day I was invited by Renee Phillips of Manhattan Arts, Intl. to become an associate artist member of the “Healing Power of Art” showcase.  I have competed in several of the different theme exhibitions and have always had a painting selected for each, but this is a much greater amount of promotion for each of her artists.  The organization has been providing support for artists for 20 years and has a huge following, particularly in the Health Care industry.  Since my goal with my paintings is to cheer and uplift the spirits, this recognition is especially important to me.

The following links are for my individual page, which will appear after November 1 and the second one is the current gallery showcase.
