Painting Cheer

May Iris Garden_edited-4

“May Iris Garden” 36″ x 48″ oil and metal leaf – $4,500

I have always tried to paint cheerful paintings to cheer others, but the need to cheer myself as I paint is greater than ever with all of the sad, angry and grim news constantly bombarding us.  I have noticed that my paintings are getting brighter than ever, and with the metal leaf technique, they are really glowing.

This Thanksgiving I’m thankful that some of my paintings were purchased this past year for the definite purpose of their cheering qualities.  Three of them also were selected by Renee Phillips for her “Healing Power of Art” international exhibits.

Now, I’m thinking ahead to the spring group shows and the need to cheer myself and others after a chilly winter.  I’m currently working on a series of  “Shimmering Gardens” and have just completed a 36″ x 72″ field of sunflowers to add to the iris painting above as the beginning of the series.  I’m also looking forward to the inspiration from the new tulip, iris and lily bulbs that just got planted in my garden.
