I have always been inspired by changes of the seasons and the new colors that emerge in my garden. The vine maple trees that grow around my studio always excite me with their new bright green leaves, but equally inspire me when the leaves turn golden and red in the fall. Even their graceful bare trunks and branches against the winter gray sky are grateful reminders of the abundance of growth to come.
My garden is also a cornucopia of colorful plants to provide inspiration and subject matter for spring and summer paintings. When I need dogwood and cherry blossoms, my neighborhood has an infinite supply for subjects. Winter scenes usually are my most difficult paintings, but the entwined branches of our Japanese maple tree always provide me pleasure, especially when coated from our occasional snow storms.
During my isolation I’ve been especially grateful to be surrounded by the beauty of nature and the ever-changing abundance of inspiration provided for my enjoyment and work.
