Anticipating New Inspiration

“Anticipation of Spring” 36″ x 48″ oil and metal leaf on canvas – $5,000

As I was relaxing on our deck and looking at the many hydrangea plants in our yard, I was amazed at the number of buds that promised glorious blossoms soon. I immediately started planning a new painting to follow those I’m completing this month.

I realized that it had been a while since my mood was more positive, rather than sad over bad news and troubling events world-wide, and repair chaos at home. It is definitely time to enjoy creating a new canvas and color scheme.

The painting above was completed last year and adds to my series of fruit and ornamental blossom trees. I’m currently working on a new cherry blossom composition and finishing another one of spider mums and autumn branches. It will be exciting to be able to use some blues again.

“Shimmering Hydrangea Garden” 36″ x 60″ oil and metal leaf on canvas – $6,000 [currently in inventory at the Portland Art Museum’s Rental/Sales Gallery]

“A Dazzle of Dogwoods” 36″ x 48″ oil and metal leaf on canvas – $4,800

Since I usually paint in series. I will also be painting a new pink dogwood canvas this year as well. This painting is currently in the Portland Art Museum’s Rental/Sales Gallery. It is also on the cover of Pomegranate’s 2025 calendar featuring my work.
